Chinese Society of Wood Industry (CSWI), one of branches of Chinese Society of Forestry, is a national not-for-profit organization dedicated to academic exchange and science popularization of wood industry in China.
CSWI plays a connective role as bridge between the governments, the scientific and technical personnel. CSWI organizes conference and workshop for academic exchange, science popularization; discusses and provides suggestions about the key problems for development of wood industry; acts as a consultant for the governments and corporations in promoting sustainable development and talent training of wood industry in China.
CSWI was founded in Dec.1980 in Fuzhou, Fujian Province, which has six Regional boards including Northeast China, North China, Northwest China, East China, Middle-south China, Southwest China, and five technical Branches including Lumbering, Wood Drying, Wood Protection, Wood-based panel and adhesives, Wood product. There are more than 10,000 members in China.
Up to 2006, more than 60 national conferences and workshops were undertaken and 28 volumes symposiums were published. CSWI cooperates to manage the academy journal “Chinese Wood Industry” with Chinese Research Institute of Wood Industry (CRIWI), also joint to publish “Wood Comprehensive Utilization News” with the National Network of Wood Comprehensive Utilization Information.
The official headquarter of CSWI is located in the Research Institute of Wood Industry, Chinese Academy of Forestry.
